CareChex Awards are determined using the Quantros scoring methodology, which is informed by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Standard Analytics file (SAF) data. Data is collected on a rolling three-year period and refreshed annually for each CareChex award cycle.

CareChex Awards are powered by the Quantros methodology, risk-adjusted quality measures, and national inpatient claims-based data used to evaluate hospital performance. Quantros provides the application view into those scores, rankings, and performance drivers, while CareChex translates the same trusted foundation into external recognition for top-performing hospitals.

The Quantros methodology accounts for patient risk factors (age, gender, and clinical complexity) to allow for a more accurate comparison between hospitals treating different patient populations. In essence, it “levels the playing field” by comparing outcomes based on patient details, not just raw results.

Yes. We provide recognition opportunities at all four scoring and ranking levels. Regional awards are based on U.S. Census Regions, while Market awards are based on U.S. Census Bureau-defined CBSAs, including Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and Combined Statistical Areas (CSAs).
